The EditLive! Equation Editor enables content contributors to create and edit mathematical and scientific equations within XHTML sections in EditLive! for XML. The equation editor is available as an add-on to EditLive! for XML and can either be purchased separately or in a package with EditLive! for XML from Ephox. The equation editor enables the creation, editing and rendering of industry standard MathML content within EditLive! for XML.
The EditLive! Equation Editor integrates seamlessly with EditLive! for XML. When purchased the EditLive! Equation Editor is provided as a Java package (the WebEqEphox.jar file). This file must be placed into the directory containing the other EditLive! for XML redistributables, by default this directory is SDK_INSTALL/webfolder/redistributables/editlivexml. Once the WebEqEphox.jar file has been placed with the rest of the EditLive! for XML redistributables EditLive! for XML must be configured to use the equation editor.
End user documentation is also packaged with the EditLive! Equation Editor in the EQUATION_EDITOR_INSTALL/enduserhelp directory of the installation, where EQUATION_EDITOR_INSTALL is the directory where the EditLive! Equation Editor has been installed to. This documentation should be placed on a Web server accessible to the clients using the relevant instance of EditLive! for XML and the documentationURL attribute of the <webeqLicense> element configured accordingly.
In cases where the EditLive! Equation Editor is to be used EditLive! for XML must be loaded with the UseMathML property set to true. This will cause EditLive! for XML to download the source code required to run the equation editor. For more information on how to set the UseMathML property see the UseMathML property information in the Instantiation API section of the EditLive! for XML SDK.
Licensing information must also be provided in order to use the EditLive! Equation Editor integration. This licensing information can be configured within the EditLive! for XML XML Configration API. The equation editor configuration information should be placed within the <webeqLicense> element within the XML configuration file. The <webeqLicense> element is a child element of the <otherLicenses> element. For more information see the documentation for the <webeqLicense> element within the XML Configuration API section of the EditLive! for XML SDK.
To configure the end user documentation available through the EditLive! Equation Editor ensure that the documentationURL attribute of the <webeqLicense> element is set.
For more information on the user interface commands available for use with the EditLive! Equation Editor please see the Equation Editor Specific Menu and Toolbar Items section in the Interface Customization section of the EditLive! for XML SDK.
